Toyota Factory Installed Auto Access Seat

• The Sienna has a first of its kind in-line factory installed rotating power lift up seat. We proudly call it the Toyota Auto Access Seat (AAS). Toyota is the not only the first manufacturer to offer a factory installed lift seat but we are the only North American automaker to offer this mobility option directly to our customers.
• The new auto access seat offers a new level of comfort and convenience to anyone who may need a little extra assistance getting in or out of a vehicle. The Sienna with Auto Access Seat (AAS) provides a much needed transportation solution for caregivers of an elderly parent or spouse with a walking disability, disabled veterans, and parents of a child with a disability.
• Detailed below is a video that highlights all of the features and benefits of the new factory installed auto access seat.

Some features of the Auto Access Seat

The auto access seat is available on the LE or XLE grade Sienna van manufactured in our Princeton Indiana assembly plant. It offers ease of use with one touch operation from a wireless remote control that minimizes the amount of effort to get in and out of the Sienna. Some of the features include:

• Seat rotation of 90 degrees with a lift capacity of 330 pounds
• It lowers to within 19” from the ground with 4” of side travel and reclines up 24 degrees
• Built-in safety features includes a system override that prevent the seat from functioning if the vehicle is not in the “park” position, if the sliding door is not completely open or if an obstruction is detected
• A single audible beep will indicate normal operation, while two audible beeps indicate an obstruction or other symptom has occurred and ceases operation until remedied
• The Sienna with Auto Access seat meets all Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards (FMVSS) and comes with a comprehensive 3-year / 36K mile factory warranty from Toyota and can be serviced by your local Toyota dealership. Aftermarket Adaptive Equipment

	Hand controls are one of the most popular categories of assistance equipment, empowering the driver without or limited use of their legs drive a vehicle utilizing their hands.
	Wheelchair and scooter lifts are the second most popular category of adaptive equipment, they allow a scooter or wheelchair to be lifted and transported inside the rear of a minivan, SUV, truck or on a hitch mounted carrier.
	Hitch mounted lifts and carriers are another option in providing easy access for mobility assistance equipment. Refer to the Hitch Load guidelines to ensure they are not exceeded. To see a complete list of guidelines for Toyota vehicles, click here.

Lift-up Seats

For caregivers and anyone who lives with mobility challenges and is able to transfer from a wheelchair or scooter, the Bruno Lift-Up® Seat offers ease of use, safety and comfort. Available for both the right front or right middle seating position in 2004 and newer Toyota Sienna minivans, Bruno's Lift-Up® Seat rotates 90 degrees or more, comes out of the vehicle and lowers to make getting in and out (of your vehicle) a breeze.

Valet™ Limited Seat now available for the right front position in:

"Adaptive Equipment" is the term that applies to aftermarket devices, typically installed by a Mobility Equipment Dealer specialist, that make it possible for people with disabilities to drive or be transported in a vehicle.

Although a Mobility Equipment Dealer specialist, such as those who belong to the National Mobility Equipment Dealers Association, is probably your best authority on the best solution for you or a family member, the chart below indicates the types of conversion and/or adaptive equipment available for Toyota vehicles.

Wheelchair Accessible Conversions

This solution is for persons with a severe disability, who are unable to get out of their wheelchair, and who wish to drive or ride in a vehicle while seated in their chair

To allow sufficient headroom for people in a wheelchair, Sienna goes through an extensive conversion process which involves lowering the floor 11" – 12" to provide a 56" high door opening/interior height, and adding a ramp on the right side or in the rear of the minivan

• With side entry conversions, the second row of seats is eliminated to provide room for wheelchair maneuvering and either one of the front seats can be removed to accommodate the wheelchair user
• With rear entry conversions, the floor is lowered up the center of the vehicle to accommodate the transport of persons in a wheelchair

Toyota's Mobility Partner, BraunAbility is the world's largest converter of wheelchair accessible minivans, and offers Wheelchair Accessible Converted Sienna Rampvans.

Sienna Rampvans are retailed through the BraunAbility network of mobility equipment dealers, who have the specialized knowledge to complete each conversion with the necessary modifications required by each individual user and their specific type and size of wheelchair. The conversion of a minivan for wheelchair access involves an extensive remanufacture of the vehicle, including the removal of the original vehicle floor and replacement with a lowered floor to increase headroom. In addition, a ramp for wheelchair access is added. This process requires the modification of several vehicle systems, including the relocation of the fuel tank and the exhaust, along with the elimination of most sound deadening materials. As a result, customers should not expect minivans converted for wheelchair access to have the same ground clearance or road noise suppression capability as an unmodified vehicle.

Toyota vehicles purchased by mobility converters for conversion and resale do not qualify for any Toyota new vehicle retail incentives when resold by the converter and/or their mobility equipment dealers as used vehicles. However, the first retail purchaser of a Toyota or Scion vehicle converted for wheelchair access is eligible for the maximum Toyota Mobility Assistance reimbursement of $1,000 when the mileage on the odometer is less than 799 miles.

Hitch Load Guidelines

Mobility equipment dealers offer scooter and wheelchair carriers designed to mount on tow hitches. Although towing hitches are designed to carry and pull items, vehicles have limitations on the load that can be applied to the hitch. Maximum Tongue Weight is the maximum amount of weight that can be applied vertically to a tow hitch. Mobility equipment that mounts to a tow hitch applies weight vertically to the hitch. In general, the maximum tongue weight is calculated as 10% of the vehicle's towing capacity rating. The towing capacity values for Toyota vehicles are based on using a genuine Toyota towing hitch and can be found in the Toyota Owner's Manual. Confirm the weight of the mobility equipment being installed. Ask the mobility equipment dealer for product weight information for both carrier and scooter. The total weight of the equipment should not exceed the maximum tongue weight of the vehicle.

Total Load Capacity is the combined weight of occupants, cargo/luggage, and mobility equipment. The maximum load capacity values (Total Load Capacity) can be found in the vehicle's Owner's Manual. Confirm the combined weight of cargo, occupants, and mobility equipment do not exceed the vehicle's total load capacity.
